Green River to Hanksville

About an hour south of Green River, Utah, the State Route swings into the little town of Hanksville where it intersects with route 95 before heading west along the scenic Fremont river toward Capitol Reef.

We stopped here early one morning on our way to Muley Point. We pulled over just west of town and I knocked out this study of the rock formations there before making breakfast.

The Rocks here are chiselled so sharply and so graphically and so straight,... and layered so uniformly that to paint them as they were would've rendered them unbelievable. I chose to take some liberties and treat them more organically than what I was seeing. And I'm happy with how this small study turned out.
